People are only just finding out Scarlett Johansson was in a Home Alone film.
People Surprised To Find Out Scarlett Johansson's Hidden Role In "Home Alone"
The Home Alone series is famous for its lineup of well-known stars, ranging from Tim Curry to Donald Trump.
However, recently, fans have been particularly excited after spotting Scarlett Johansson in one of the holiday movies.
Home Alone 3 features an eight-year-old Alex Pruitt who protects his home from a group of dangerous criminals.
In the film, Alex receives a remote-controlled car from his neighbor, Mrs. Hess, which is meant to assist her in shoveling snow from her driveway.
Unbeknownst to him, this seemingly innocent toy car is hiding a top-secret computer chip.
Alex soon finds himself battling thieves who are after the chip, planning to use it to support a terrorist organization.
The third chapter of this beloved holiday trilogy received mixed reactions, with some critics pointing out its shift away from the original cast and themes of the earlier films.
Although viewers of Home Alone 3 won't see Macauley Culkin squaring off against the Wet Bandits, they are treated to another familiar face.
Years before she would become famous as Marvel's Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson appeared as Alex's older sister, Molly Pruitt, when she was only 11 years old.
Fans have been ecstatic to realize that the actress, now 39, was part of this classic holiday franchise.
On X (formerly Twitter), reactions have been enthusiastic. One user exclaimed, "How the hecking HECK did I not know Scar Jo is in Home Alone 3??????"
Another was surprised, saying, "Holy s***...Scar Jo was in Home Alone?....Wow."
A third shared their amazement, "Scar Jo is in Home Alone 3 and my mind is blown."
And another just realized, "How did I just a realize say Scar Jo was the sister in Home Alone???"
Interestingly, moviegoers weren’t the only ones who didn't immediately recognize Johansson.
The actress herself mentioned that her daughter failed to recognize her in the movie as well.
During a 2021 interview on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Johansson recounted how she had never intentionally shown the film to her daughter, but they ended up watching it because it was on TV around Christmas.
She said, "Of course, naturally we did Home Alone. And I happened to be in the third Home Alone movie, and so I didn’t say anything to her because I thought she would make a big deal out of it."
Rosie, who was six at the time, didn’t recognize her mother initially.
"I had to really, like, [say], 'See who that is?' She’s like, 'Whatever. Is that you?'
"I was like, 'It’s me, your momma.' And she was like, 'Oh, OK. Whatever.'"
